Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting (ARFF) Standby Request
at Chicago Executive Airport (KPWK)

Service Provision:

Chicago Executive Airport (KPWK) is a busy, large, general aviation airport that is not ARFF Indexed and does not operate under FAR Part 139. The Prospect Heights Fire Protection District and the Village of Wheeling Fire Department provides offsite fire and emergency services to the Airport on a normal basis.

Chicago Executive Airport always strives to offer the best services tailored to the users of the Airport. The Village of Wheeling Fire Department has agreed to offer a pre-arranged extra duty standby request service at an additional cost.

Pending availability and confirmation from the Fire Department, the standby service would provide coverage for at least 15 minutes before scheduled arrival to 15 minutes after the departure for unscheduled operations.

This standby service will be provided by Wheeling’s 2022 Oshkosh Striker (Crash Truck 44) and two (2) certified fire fighters.

  • 2000 Gallons Per Minute Pump.
  • 1500 Gallon Water Tank.
  • 210 Gallon Class B Foam Tank.
  • 500 lbs. Purple K Dry Chemical.
  • 750 Gallons Per Minute Roof Turret (Foam Capable).
  • 750 Gallons Per Minute Front Bumper Turret (Foam and Purple K Capable).

*The designated staging fire staging area may differ from the Aircraft’s intended destination on the airfield.

Fee Structure:

This agreement is for one (1) ARFF apparatus and two (2) certified fire fighters.

Total Cost Per 2 Hour Interval: $1,040.00 USD.

Upon confirmation of services from the Fire Department, Airport Operations will direct the Aircraft Operator to prepay the above rate via credit card with the Fixed Based Operator/Handler at KPWK. Receipt confirmation must be sent to [email protected] within 2 hours of confirmation otherwise the ARFF services will not be provided.

Scheduling:

The below request form must be submitted no later than 72 hours in advance of the scheduled operation. Requests will be accommodated as much as possible but are not guaranteed. An email confirmation will be sent when service is confirmed. This email address is generally monitored everyday of the week between 7:00 am – 3:00 pm local central excluding US Federal Holidays and anytime the US NOTAM system shows a “Conditions Not Reported” NOTAM.

Aircraft Operator agrees to prepay the cost of the ARFF Standby Service at a cost of $1,040.00 USD for each minimum two (2) hour interval.

Agreement

The individual or company agrees to the following conditions set forth;

  • This agreement is contingent upon confirmation of the availability of off-duty fire personnel.
  • Upon receipt of availability, the credit card receipt of the pre-paid service from a KPWK Fixed Based Operator must be sent to [email protected] within 2 hours otherwise the ARFF services will not be provided.
  • Chicago Executive Airport (KPWK) is not an ARFF Indexed, Part 139 Airport.
  • Cancellations inside of 24 hours will not be refunded.
  • Changes made inside of 24 hours will be accommodated as best as possible, if these changes cannot be accommodated the individual or company will still be responsible for the total cost of the agreement.
  • Any aircraft diversions for any reason to include the weather, runway conditions, temporary flight restrictions, no show, or late aircraft are strictly non-refundable.
  • The aircraft operator will notify PWK Airport Operations ASAP for any reason they will not make it into/out of KPWK to include diversions, cancellations, etc.
  • Cancellations between 72-24 hours will be refunded less a fee of $40.00 USD
